Tulips

Tulips

Welcome to the Tulip class.

We have had a wonderful and very productive term in the Tulip Class. Everyone has been working hard and making great progress towards their Junior Cycle Level 1 Learning Programmes. We are developing our skills across a range of areas, including Communication and Language, Mathematics, Being Part of the Community, Physical Education, Personal Care and Well-being, and the Arts.

We have been very busy exploring the themes of Saint Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day through a variety of engaging and creative activities. We also enjoyed some fabulous walks, making the most of the early Spring sunshine and observing the changes in nature around us.

In Personal Care and Well-being, we have been learning about the importance of personal safety, healthy eating, and good personal hygiene. These lessons help us to develop greater independence and understand how to take care of ourselves every day.

Music brings so much joy to our classroom, and we absolutely love listening to our favourite songs, dancing together, and playing percussion instruments. We have especially enjoyed our music sessions with Niamh, where we had great fun experimenting with a variety of instruments. The keyboard and the drums are favourites, and we love exploring the different sounds we can create.

We have also been very busy with our creative art projects. We created beautiful Mothers’s day cards and Saint Patrick’s Day cards. We worked on abstract portraits and leaf printing with Kerry in Art. We also worked with Catherine to create puppets for our Creative Arts project and thoroughly enjoyed bringing them to life with bright, cheerful paint. We decorated and dressed our puppets.

We are a very active class and thoroughly enjoy our PE sessions in the hall. Basketball is a particular favourite, and we love practicing our skills and playing together as a team. Every day at break and lunchtime, we head out to the basketball court, which is always great fun for everyone. We also enjoy cycling and staying active, making sure we keep moving and having fun throughout the day.

We really look forward to baking every Thursday morning and thoroughly enjoy measuring, pouring, and mixing all the ingredients together. It’s always a fun, hands-on experience where everyone gets involved. Over the past few weeks, we have made a delicious variety of treats, including chocolate chip cookies, raspberry and white chocolate muffins, chocolate biscuit cake, coconut and jam buns. We enjoyed pancakes with our favourite toppings on pancake Tuesday. Baking together is one of our favourite weekly activities!

We recently visited the sensory room in the library. We enjoyed story time and chose our own books. It was a lovely outing, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip together. We also love going for walks when the weather is nice, and we often visit the playground along the way, which makes our outings even more fun and active.

We are looking forward to Easter and a visit from the Easter bunny in school.
